Mount Kilimanjaro can be climbed throughout the year, but the best conditions are during the dry seasons.
The most recommended months are:
January to March – Clear skies, fewer climbers, and cooler temperatures
June to October – Stable weather, excellent visibility, and peak trekking season
The rainy seasons (April–May and November) offer greener landscapes and fewer crowds, but trails may be wetter and more challenging.
Weather on Mount Kilimanjaro varies significantly with altitude. Climbers pass through several climate zones, from warm tropical forests at the base to freezing alpine conditions near the summit.
Daytime temperatures are generally mild at lower elevations, while nighttime temperatures near the summit can drop well below freezing. Proper layering and preparation are essential, and our guides ensure you are well briefed and equipped for all weather conditions.

We’ll drive from Moshi to Nale Moru village, the starting point of the Rongai Route. After completing park formalities, you’ll meet your crew of porters and guides before starting the trek. The first section ascends steadily through farmland and pine forests. Keep an eye out for Colobus monkeys, elephants, or buffalo along the way. Your first camp, Simba Camp, sits at the edge of the moorland zone.
Today’s trek is a steady climb up to Second Cave Camp, located in the moorland zone. Enjoy superb views of Kibo and the Eastern ice fields as you ascend. The route is scenic and peaceful, offering a perfect introduction to the northern slopes of Kilimanjaro.
Climb short but steep grassy slopes to reach Mawenzi Tarn Camp, set beneath the towering spires of Mawenzi. Spend the afternoon acclimatizing, exploring the area, and enjoying panoramic views of Kibo and the surrounding wilderness.
Ascend westward across the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo, reaching Kibo Hut after 4–5 hours. The remainder of the day is spent resting in preparation for the summit attempt, with plenty of time to hydrate and prepare for the challenging night climb.
Rise around midnight for your summit attempt. Trek steeply through rocky paths to Hans Meyer Cave, then on to Gillman’s Point at the crater rim. Continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After photos at the summit, descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest, then continue down to Horombo Hut. This is the longest and most challenging day of the trek.
After breakfast, descend through the alpine desert and moorland zones, enjoying sweeping mountain views along the way. Overnight at Mandara Hut, resting comfortably after your summit day.
Continue your descent through the rainforest to Marangu Gate. Complete park formalities and receive your summit certificate. Return by vehicle to Moshi or Arusha for a hot shower, a well-earned meal, and celebrations of your achievement.
Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight home, taking
memories of your Kilimanjaro adventure with you.
